MELBOURNE, June 21. The Clarke v. Norton action for alleged libel lias been settled. The Judge on taking his seat announced that the jury would bo discharged till to-morrow. Subsequently counsel for defendant stated that after bearing tho evidence oi plaintiff, the defendant was satisfied that the article complained of was mi justified and ho desired to apologise and withdraw it. By consent there would bo a verdict for £IOOO with costs, including tho cost of tho Commission to England for plaintiff.

Judgment was entered accordingly
