NEW 7 YORK, June 18.—A dyke broke near an Indian village on the Colorado river. A great portion of tin village was destroyed and some lives lost. The Indians made a great raft of logs and floated it down the river. They attempted to swing it across a gap. It was a perilous expedient, and was only partly successful.

NE TEMERE DECREE. OTTAWA, June 18.—The Supreme Coart of Canada decided that tho Canadian Parliament had no power to cnmt legislation of the character of tho Lancaster Marriage Bill, arising out of the Ne Temere Decree. The decision means that authority to enact marriage laws rests entirely with the provincial legislatures. The Court decided that the law of Quebec docs net render mixed marriages null and void, whether performed by a Catholic priest or a Protestant clergyman.
