THE DOCK STRIKE BLUNDER. WORK RAPIDLY RESUMING. PEACEFUL PICKETERS SENTENCED.
PROPOSED CLAIM AGAINST UNION FUNDS. LONDON, June 14. The Emergency Committee includes Messrs Gosling and Ren Tillet£, who arc keeping in touch with the Government with a view to any possible arrangements for settlement. The Port cf London Authority dc- ' cidcd to vary the lighterman’s regula ticn enabling the license of any qualified'applicant. The lightermen are alarmed at this attack on their ancient privileges. The strike is not spreading, and there is a noticeable increase cf work in the London Docks.
Several peaceful picketers were sentenced to hard labour.
The employers have given notice of a claim for Josses on the union’s funds deposited under the 1900 .agreement.
QUESTIONS TO INDUSTRIAL COUNCIL.
LONDON, June 14.
In the House of Commons, Mr. Asquith said tiie Government proposed to refer two questions to the Industrial Committee:—
(I.) Concerning the best method of securing the fulfilment of industrial agreements.. (2) How far the agreements between employers and workmen should be enforced throughout the particlar trade or district.
CO-PARTNERSHIP FAVOURED. LONDON, June 14. A non-party Consultive Council to promote labour co-partnership has been formed, and includes, Earl Gray, the Hon. Alfred Lyttelton, K.C.M.G., Lord Robert Cecil, M.P., and Mr. W. H. Lever.
