A bottle has been found on the beach at Thirroul, with a note inside, signed “Jones, fireman, dredge Manchester,” and dated May L’.fth. Tim note states that the dredge is 300 miles south-east of Lord Howe Island, is disabled and has broken down. The dredge is leaking and won’t last forty-eight hours The message is believed to be a hoax as there was no fireman Jones on the Manchester.
