The Hon. James Colvin (Minister of Mines) intimated his intention to arrive in Recfton to-night, offering to mediate in tho dispute. Unfortunately Mr. Winter Evans., manager of the company and president of tho Minors’ Union, has just left for the conference at Waihi.

Not much hope is entertained hero of success. Tho miners consider tho Reofton dispute should be considered on its own basis. The Secretary of tho Minors’ Union here has agreed to’ lay the case before the Minister.

MEN BECOMING DISQUIETED

REEFTON, Juno 13. A meeting of the Miners’ Union is to bo held to-night aijd the business is stated to bo important. Tiro men an utterly disquieted with long delay and many arc very tired of tho road and railway construction work, as tho weather has boon terrible. Though tho train will be late tonight a good reception will bo given to Mr. Colvin, whoso action in coining hero is much appreciated. The secretary of the Miners’ Union, however, states that the minors will nob grant any concessions whatever, but wiil submit their- ease to tho Minister.
