Macartney took up the attack at 13 and Jennin'gp for Hazlitt at 54, Wilson was taken cleverly in the slips. Ho was in 130 minutes and gave an awkward chance to Bardsloy at 26. Play ,"’ as slow and 100 took over two hours. Tasker livened up things with 15 in twelve minutes, including a sixer and a fourcr. Booth succumbed at second ball. At tea adjournment the score was six for 120.

On resuming, Macartney and Hazlitt wen the bowlers. .Firth departed first over and Hirst in attempting a big hit was caught at long on. Bardsley m playing forward to his first ball was taken smartly low down at shortleg by Denton, the fieldsman diving for the catch, the score being unaltered.
