News from Alaska states that Kodiak is covered a foot deep with' volcanic ash.
The people’s plight is pitiable, as they are without food or drinking water. No deaths aro reported.
A United States revenue cutter has been despatched to afford aid to the stricken population. Reports from Seward, in Alaska, recount that volcanic disturbances destroyed throe native villages and the loss of 200 lives.
Loss of life is also probable on Atognak Island.
