MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
SOUTH CANTERBURY NOMINATIONS. [Bf TII.EOP.APH—PEE PEI33 ASSOCIATION-] TLMARU, April, 19. Tim nominations closed to-day for local borough and other elections. For the Timaru Mayoralty Mr. J. Craigie, M.P., who has been Mayor for the lastnine years, and Councillor Beck, a retired farmer, are the candidates. For twelve seats on the Borough Council there are twenty-five nominations, and three of the present Councillors stand out. For the Timaru High School Board there are four candidates for two seats and for tho Harbour Board four candidates for three seats. For Waimata Mr. Norton Francis has been re-elected Mayor unopposed. There arc sixteen candidates for nine seat in the Waimato Council, a former Mayor, opposes Mr. T. Buxton At Temuka, Mr. J. T. M. Hayhurst, M.P., the present Mayor. At Timaru and Wairaate the Labour Party makes a bid for a share in "the representation, six candidates in each case accepting tickets. PAHIATUA NOMINATIONS. PAHIATUA, April, 19. Mr. W. W. McArdle, the present Mayor, and Mr. A. Weston were nominated to-day for the Mayoralty of Pahiatua. Only the number required were nominated for the Council, and there will bo no contest.
