SCULLING.

[by telegraph—per press association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, March 17

Arnst and Welch are nut daily but the broken weather had interrupted operations tf) some extent. Shore watches say this will do no harm, particularly in the case, of Whelch, who may have been getting too much boat.

Arnst is down to within 3 lbs of his rowing weight, and in the boat he has a magnificent drive, but his catch is: weak. Both men have been doing fast sprinting and Welch is doing a great deal of solid work in addition. Arnst is taking matters more quietly. Arnst takes exercises daily on the hills. He had an accident with his boat a few days ago. Taking her out at very low tide, he hit a big stone and knocked a couple of holes in the shell. Happily repairs were easily made.

Welch has a new boat built by Towns which fits him in everv wav.
