SYDNEY, March 17. The Federal Arbitration Court is commencing the hearing of the Engine Drivers and Firemen’s Association case in connection with the Newcastle strike The issues involve the whole of the conditions of employment of land engines.

Though the strike is over it is unlikely that full supplies of coal will he available for some weeks. During the strike the Interstate Company had over fifty steamers laid up. Thirty of tlv'se are still idle. The docking ami getting of them in running order will mean a further large outlay. The total losses of Interstate and Union Companies over the strike is estimated at £200,000.
