(Received Jan 21, at 9 a.m.) London, Jau 20. The Boers have captured a British train at East Balmoral. It was laden with mining material for the Rand. Three squadrons of the Johannesburg Mounted Rifles captured a Boer outpost at Springs Terminus, east of the Rand railway line. A strong Boer force subsequently made a strong attack, but it was repulsed. Sixty-seven of the Aberdeen Dutch have joined the raiders. (Received Jan 22 at 12.45 a.m.) Eleven farmers were arrested and brought to Cradock, m Cape Colony, for drilling and inviting the invaders. Native scouts captured 400 horses at Wolvehoep. Hertzog, at Calvinia, is anxiously enquiring for De la Rey'a whereabouts. Seven hundred rifles were handed the authorities at Carnarvon. The Town Guard and deatchuients of Australians at Willowmore repelled 400 of Kruitzinger's Boers. While covering with grass a trap n.me | worked on a level with the earLh, near \ Zeerust, the weight pressed too heavily on the lever used to lire the charge, which exploded, killing Lieut. Wallace, North Lancashire Regiment, and Corporal Edwards, New Zealand Artillery.
