Wednesday, July 21. » The Board met at 2 p.m. Present — The Chief Commissioner and Messrs Chesney, Lang and Matheson. Thte minutes of previous meeting: were read and confirmed. APPLICATIONS. ADJOURNED BUSINESS. No. 1684, T. A. Waugh, by his agent W. Duncan, to lease 100 acres of pastoral land at New River, under section 219 of Land Act, 1892,-rGranted for term of 3 years at rental of £1 per annum. No. 1685, B. Gallagher, by his agent, W. Duncan, to lease 640 acres of pastoral land at New River under section 219 of the Land Act, 1892.--The Ranger's report was read —The Commissioner moved that the application'be refused—Carried. No. 1686j J. C. Malfroy, by his agents, Mark Sprot & Co., to lease gravel reserve near Hau Hau Creek, under section 116 of Land Act, 1892. Applications 1688 and 1702 were taken along with this, — The" Commissioner reported that he had visited the ground and interviewed Mr Malfroy and Mr MurphyThe main issue between these applicants was the possession of a house which had been erected on the reserve, presumably at the expense of both parties, and that N his recommendation to the Board was, not to lease this portion of the reserve to anyone in the meantime. — Refused,

' No. 1687, G. Gilbert, by his agent, W. 'Duncan, to lease 25 acres of pastoral land at New River, under section 219 of the Land Act, 1892. — Ranger's report was read and application granted for 3 years at 10s per annum.

•No. 1688, M. Murphy, to lease gravel reserve near Hau Hau Greek, under-sec-tion 116 of the Land Act, 1892— Refused.

No. 1689, W. Wilson by his agent, W. Duncan to lease 16 acres of pastoral land at New River, under section 219 of Land Act,,lß92— Withdrawn. No. 1690, H. Waters, by his agent, W. Duncan, to lease 100 acres of pastoral land at New River, under section 219 of Land Act, 1892. — After hearing Ranger's report the application was granted for a term of 3 years at annual rental of 30s.

No. 1692, A. Giffney, by his agent, W. Duncan, to lease 100 acres of pastoral land at New River, under section 219 of Land Act, 1892— Refused. No. 1693, W. Gunn, by his agent, W. Duncan, to lease 120 acres of pastoral land at Wataroa, under section 219 of the Land Act, 1892 — The Commissioner reported no objection — Granted for term of 3 years at 28s per annum. NEW BUSINESS. No 1696, C. Mayo to transfer to J. Gibson his interest in lease No 19 of Section 3, Poerua Settlement — Granted. No 1697, W.. Wilson, by his agent, W. Duncan, lo lease lOOjacres of pastoral land at Camerons under Sec. 219 of Land Act, 1892 — Adorned for one month for Ranger's report. No 1698, Patrick and Green, by their agent, W. Duncan, to lease 100 acres of pastoral land at Totara river, under Sec. 219 of Land Act, 1892—Adjourned for 1 month. No 1699, Graham Bros, by their agent, W. Duncan, to lease 100 acres of pastoral land at Alpine Lake, Five Mile Beach, under Sec. 219 of Land Act, 1892— idjourned for 1 month.

No 1702, William Larke, to lease £an icre of giavel reserve near Hau Hau "reek, under Sec. 116 of Land Act, 1892 —The Commissioner said that Mr Larke lppeared on behalf of certain residents, «rh j intend to erect a public hall and required the area for that purpose. — Grant3d to trustees of proposed Public Hall at innual rental of 2s 6d. No 1703, T. W. Bruce, by his agent, E. W. Wade, to lease 200 acres of pastoral land'at Lake Brunner, under Sec. 219 of Land Act, 1822 — Adjourned for 1 month for Ranger's report. No 1695, C. P. Norman, to purchase 112 acres 24 perches of rural land being Sub-division B, of Sees. No. 564, 567 and 569, Kanieri Survey District under Sees. 149 and 150 of Land Act, 1885- The Commissioner reported in favor of application. A.letter from the Warden notifying no objection was also read. — Adjourned for 1 month. MISCELLANEOUS.* Letter from Under-Secretary of Lands stating that the law does not give any power to the Government to reduce the rent of H. Karnbach's- run No. 88.— Received. ' From Surveyor-General, noting the Ministers approval of recommendation of Board? to sub-divide temporary grazing run No. 152 and transfer portion of it to Mr Diedrichs. -Received. From J. Park, President of Acclimatization Society, asking the Board to recommend a reservation for fish breeding purposes at Kanieri Lake. — Received — Recommendation to be made. From Under-Secretary of Lands stating that the Minister had approved of the recommendation of the Board with regard to granting of temporary grazing licenses. — Received. The Commissioner placed for approval before the Board plan of section No 902, 50 acres, Block XV, Gillespies Survey District — Approved . The Receiver of Land Revenue reports receipts for the period amounting to £129 4s Bd, viz., ordinary land revenue, £115 4s 8d ; Midland Railway revenue, £14. — Received. Mr Blick, and with him Messrs Guy and Gillyard, representing the deferred payment holders on Teremakau settlement, appeared before the Board to and that in mitigation of over-due rentals, of which notice has been given by the Lands Department to cue for same, that a reduction of areas of swamp be made so a? to afford some measure of relicf — .Mi Duncan also spoke on behalf of the holders. — Considerable and sympathetic discussion took place when it was resolved that the Commissioner visit the locality and bring up a report at an early meetins;.—Mr Duacan, on behalf of the settlers, thanked the Board for the kind consideration received. The Board then adjourned.
