Over 2000 are competing in the first stage of the Queen's prize at Bisley, including 98 Colonials. The highest scores gained by New Zealanders in the Queen's Prize at the 200 yards range are, Parsons, 33; Hawthorn, 'Harris and Ballinger, 32 each; Webste*, Williams and Sommerville, 30 each. At the 500 yards, Williams made 35; King, Howe and Richardson, 34; Hawthorn andStrachan, 33; Harris and Hazard, 32.

A {violent thunderstorm passed over the range during the firing for the Queen's prize. It prevented a number of Colonials from competing. The Duke of Connaught visited the camp, and conversed with a number of the Colonials, asking how they liked the Lee-Metford rifles. The men replied they, thought them much superior to the Martini-Henri. All the officers of the Colonial contingents were presented to the Duke of Connaught.
