Mr Stuart Cumberland denies the truth of the report that he was arrested in Bohemia for ridiculing the Austrian flag. Serious rioting has broken out at Mitchelstown, the occasion being the anniversary of the previous riots. Mr Gladstone has been interviewed on the Sugar Bounties Treaty, but when requested to express his opinion he gave an evasive answer. Great enthusiasm was displayed at the meeting of the British Association for the advancement of science on receipt of the message of the Australian Society in response to one sent from here. The Globe states that subscriptions to the Irish funds are gradually decreasing, except from Australia, and enquiries are being made as to the disposal of the balance in hand at present. President Cleveland, in his letter accepting the candidature for the Presidency, ignores the Fisheries Treaty. General Harrison, in his address to the Republicans, denounces the immigration of paupers nnd Chinese into America. General Boalanger leaves for Christiana on September 12.
