About seven this evening a fire occurred at the New Zealand Clo'hing Company's premises, Cashel street, through a bandkerchief falling on the gas jet. The contents of the window, consisting of men' B mercery, were destroyed together with fitting >. The surrounding wall and ceiling were badly scorched. The damage is estimated at £400, The building and stock are insured, it is supposed in the National, but it is not known for certainty, the insurances being effected in Dunedin.
