MURDER NEAR BLENHEIM.

Blenheim, April 11.

News was brought into town yesterday evening that a murder had been committed at Waikawa. From facts to hand, it is reported that Eawiki Kepa quarrelled with his uncle, Ropoama Peni Peni, jealousy being said to be the cause. Two successive fights took place on Saturday night, the wife of Peni Peni assisting Rawiki Kepa to assault her husband, and in the last fight Peni Peni became insensible and died on Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock.

The matter was reported to the police at 5 o'clock yesterday evening, and Sergeants Scanlau and Keily were soon on the spot, and energetic search was made for Rawiki Kepa, who was arrested at halfpast twelve this morning, being found concealed in a hay loft, He was brought into town and is now in custody. The prisoner is very downcast. An inquest will be held.
