SOUTHERN ROADS.
fro the Editor. J
Hir, — Your correspondent, Mr Prank Bird, in his letter dated the 29th ult., makes some very serious charges, touching my vetacity regarding a few miles, ot road over which I travelled some time ago, and intimates his belief that I wrote out of "spite," which is a very silly assertion, seeing that until lately I did not even know who the road repairers were. I suppose it would not by at a\\ proper to " turn the tables " on Mr Bird by asking if his warm espousal of the road con-
tractor's cause, springs not from very substantial motives ?. The cause he assigns for non-eraployment of men on the road by the chairman of the Road Board" ia not the v correct card," and I can affirm that there is abundance/of *yprk yet undone w.hicb "fhoqlfl have b^n looked to long ago. With these remar^ I drop ,the matter, knowing that the Chief Engineer will do his duty To the public, by having the road in question examined aa sS"6n as possible. 'With" thanks for"your valuable space, I remain, Okariio, Sept. 4th, 1876.
