Westland Jockey Club Handicap. — (To start at 12 o'clock sharp) of 100 soys. Open to all horses. Two miles and a distance; nomination, 3 soys only, to be made on night of general entry. Handicap weights will be declared at British Empire Hotel, at 2 p.m., on the first day of running, so as to allow the stewards the opportunity of rating the merits of the horses. Acceptances with 7 soys must be sent into the stewards at the above Hotel by 10 p.m. on same night. Handicap Hurdle Race (to start at 1 o'clock sharp) of 60 soys. Open to all horses. 2 miles and a half ; nomination 3 soys. Weights to be declared as per Westland Handicap, and acceptance of 3 soys. Also under same conditions. Ladies' Purse (to start at 2 o'clock sharp) of 20 soys, one mile and a-half, welter weights, gentlemen riders. 3 yrs, 8 st 12 lbs; 4 yrs, 10 st 12 lbs; 5 yrs, list 8 lbs ; 6 yrs and aged, 12 st 4 lbs. Entrance, 2 soys. Distance Handicap Trotting Race (to start at 2.30 p.m., sharp) of 10 soys. Two miles and a-half, welter weights for age. Entrance, 1 soy. Kntrance, one anda-half soys. RULES AND REGULATIONS. 1. The Victorian racing rules, having been adopted by the Club, will be strictly adhered to 2. No entry will be received unless upon distinct understanding that the decision of the Stewards, or whomever they raay appoint, shall in all cases be final, and all law proceedings barred. 3. All entries and nominations must be made in writing, under seal or cover addressed to the stewards, and must contain subscriptions and entrance monies, together with name, age, and pedigree of horse, and color of rider, and delivered to the Stewards at or before 7 p.m. on Wednesday, 23rd of Deceriiber, 1868, at the British Empire Hotel. 4. A qualification fee must be paid by each owner or nominator of a horse or horses on the following scale, viz. : — For one or more events under £50, £2 ; for £50 and under £100, £3; for £100 and over, £4 ; but said fees are not to be accumulative. Subscribers of £4 and over are not required to pay any fee or qualification. 5. All horses must be ridden in colors, under a penalty of £2. 6. Mares allowed 5 lbs ; geldings allowed 3 lbs. 7. All stakes paid less 5 per cent. 8. All dogs trespassing on the course will be destroyed. E. W. JONES, 4449 Secretary.
