Wanganui Senior B And Manawatu Match
In bright sunshine at Cook's Gardens today a Wanganui senior B eleven played a drawn game against a Manawatu senior B eleven. The home side compiled 93 runs of which D. Tyler scored 36 not out. The Manawatu team scored a useful 84 runs, only 9 runs behind Wanganui. Besides Tyler's 36 not out B. Beattie’s 23 runs was the next best Wanganui score. Like Tyler, Beattie batted freely until he went leg before wicket from a well pitched ball from Northover. The successful bowler against the Wanganui batsmen was Kelly, who took three wickets for 17 runs. Loughlan and Northover each too:; two wickets for 33 and 13 respectively. McGregor was the top Manawatu
scorer with 19 runs, with Northover scoring 16 runs. The successful Wanganui bowlers were Beattie, who took 5 wickets for 34 runs and A. Colville, who captured three wickets for 18 runs. At tea Manawatu were no wickets down for three, the not out batsmen being Osborne and Northover.
