TWO SHOOTERS BELIEVED DROWNED IN LAKE TEKAPO

TIMARU, Last Night (PA).—Two men who have been missing since Saturday night are believed to have beeti drowned in Lake Tekapo. The out. board motor in which they were last seen was found upturned on the shore of the lake about six o’clock on Sunday night, and a hat. which has been identified as the property of one of the men, was found about 300 yards away. The men are James William Cannan, aged 36, married, of Camp 3, Lake Tekapo Hydro, and Daniel Joseph Nolan, aged 45, married,, of Camp 2, Lake Tekapo Hydro. The two men set‘out in the boat on Saturday evening in pursuit of Canadian geese, and they were last seen in the centre of the lake. About 6 p.m. on Sunday the do it was found upturned in the centi'e of the lake by George Flewellen, about three miles north of Richmond Station. The hit was later found about 390 yards irom the boat.

Many volunteers have been seurening for the two me-* ?nd dragging operations under the svpervis on of Constable E. O'rapitt, jf Lake Tekapo, have been carried out near "where the hat was found, but up to a late hour tonight there had been nd trace of the missing men. Because of the extreme depth of the water in the pai - ticular area it has been found impossible to drag the lake successfully. The search will he continued on Tuesday. _____ __
