PROBLEM OF MOVING FERRY PASSENGERS FROM LYTTELTON
CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA) —About,9oo passengers will arrive at Lyttelton from W,Mington in the inter-island steamer on Sunday morning, and if the railway strike takes takes place their transport to Christchurch will create a problem. So far no arrangements have been made to move them.
The Christchurch Tramway Employees' Union indicated that it will not run tramway buses over the hill to bring passengers to Christchurch. There will not he enough taxis operated by owner-diivers to shift such a crowd. One bus company in Christchurch has a fleet big eonugh for the job, but although the attitude of the Canterbury Drivers' Union is not definitely known, it is considered certain that the company's drivers would not take their buses to Lyttelton or undertake any job normally done by the railways.
