The speaker stat.’** that during Mr. Beattie’s years in Sanson he had done excellent work in the guidance of his pupils, and he considered that the excellent standard displayed by the children who left the Sanson School to attend secondary schools was sufficient evidence of the capabilities of Mr. Beattie as a teacher. Mrs. Beattie had been a tower of strength to the organisations to which she belonged, and would also be missed in the community. Mr. Eglihton wished them both every happiness for the future. Speaking on behalf of the residents, Mr. S. L. Kent stated both Mr. and Mrs. Beattie had proved themselves, excellent citizens, and had taken their part of the community life of the district. In asking Mr. and Mrs. Beattie to accept a chiming clock from the residents, Mr. Riseley said that the numbers present bore testimony of the feelings of residents. Robin Mitchell on behalf of the children presented Mr. Beattie with a barometer stating that the children were very sorry he was leaving their school.
