Arrangements For Today's Trains

AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA). No trains will run in the area between Opua and Frankton Junction again tomorrow if the strike continues. However, expresses will run on the -Main Trunk line between Frankton and Wellington and between Frankton and New Plymouth, Frankton and Rotorua, and Frankton and Taneatua. All goods services south of Frankton Junction are running as usual. The south-bound expresses tomorrow will leave Frankton Junction for Wellington at 5.45 p.m., 6.31 p.m. and 9.40 p.m. The train for New Plymouth is due to leave Frankton at 10.26 p.m. and those for Rotorua and Taneatua at 1.03 p.m. and 12.28 p.m. respectively. The trains which left Wellington this afternoon and tonight are due to arrive at Frankton at 4.20, 5.15 and 8.27 tomorrow morning. Tomorrow’s afternoon and evening north-bound trains will leave Wellington at 3, 3.40 and 7.50 for Frankton, and the express from New Plymouth will leave tor Frankton at 7.10. NO RESERVATIONS Reservations are not being made on any of the Main Trunk trains. Railway officials said that it was not practicable to book seats, but within certain safety limits, additional carriages would be provided where necessary. The only arrivals at Auckland today were three expresses from Wellington which left there on Wednesday night before the strike began, and four goods trains which were also en route at midnight. Ten outward expresses were cancelled. Passengers booked to travel on 12 outward expresses tomorrow totalled 4377. Together with the 2225 for whom reservations were made on today’s trains, they brought the number of people whose prospective journeys from Auckland have been seriously upset to more than 6600. Normally tomorrow would have set the record for the Christmas period.
