Statement By Indonesian Government As To West New Guinea's Sovereignty
JACARTA, Dec. 21 (Rec. 12.55 am) —The Indonesian Government, in a statement today, warned that failure by the Netherlands to surrender sovereignty over Western New Guinea to Indonesia would unavoidably give rise to spite and ill-will among the Indonesian people. The Government, however, would stand by its responsibility and “protec: the human and legitimate rights of all inhabitants of Indonesia.” “The Government is confident that, in spite of their rightful indignation in the event of the Netherlands’ refusal, the Indonesian people will remain loyal and law-abiding,” says the statement.—Reuter,
