MACARTHUR DENIES THAT COMMUNIST CHINESE USING GAS
TOKIO, Dec. 21 (Recd. 12.55 p.m.).—A spokesman at General MacArthur’s headquarters today ienied reports that Chinese troops used gas grenades in the Korean War. He said: "The Chinese forces larry no gas masks, and they are not gas trained." The spokesman added that feports of the use of gas had been jublished on several occasions, jut there was never any evidence :o support the stories and thev ilways had been disproved. The Chinese, now and then, had used imoke grenades that sometimes izzled and gave off an acrid smell. These occurrences might have given rise to false reports that the Chinese had introduced jas.—Associated Press.
