Fighting Below 38th. Parallel
SEOUL, Dec 20 (Reed 1 am).— Eighth Army headquarters in Korea reported today that fighting had broken out below the 38th. parallel between South Korean and North Korean forces. Fighting was on a 30-mile front in
-1 the vicinity of Chungchon. which is i 10 miles south of the 38th. parallel, J and 45 miles •north-east of Seoul. The main Chinese forces, deployed - along the 39th. parallel, about 70 miles north of the United Nations line covering Seoul, are showing no signs of i movement yet.
