WANGANUI COLTS’ CRICKET TOUR AGAIN THIS CHRISTMAS
A Wanganui colts' cricket team will go on tour over the Christmas holiday period this year. Away for nine days, it will play four matches, the tour being a more extensive one than that undertaken at the beginning of this year. Leaving from Martin and Vernon’s depot at 8 a.m. on Boxing Day, the team will go to Hutt Valley, where its first match begins the next day. Dates for this first match, which is against a Hutt Valley XI., are December 27 and 28. On December 29 and 30 the colts will play another Hutt Valley XI. The team will then go to Masterton for two matches against Wairarapa elevens. The first will be played on January 1 and 2 and the second on January 3 and 4, after which the team returns to Wanganui. Members of the team, which will also play a senior B eleven on Cook's Gardens on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m., are: D. A. Cameron (managercaptain), P. A. London, R. Vernon, R. Cargill, S. Thompson, B. A. Willacy, R. J. Leahy, T. L. Stent, R. W. Webby, J. Widdowson, S. May and R. Brown.
