AUCKLAND, Last Night (P.A.).— Auckland today had its hottest day this summer. At 2 o'clock in the afternoon the temperature reached 78.1 degrees—greater than last. December’s maximum of 77.9 degrees recorded on Christmas Day. The humidity remained high through the day, which was also marked by brilliant. sunshine. High temperatures were also reported from provincial centres. Rotorua had its hottest day this summer with a temperature of 81.3 degrees and Whangarei recorded 80 degrees.
