PALMERSTON BREEDER BUYS CHAMPION DORSET HORN RAM
What is claimed to bo a Victorian record price of 350gns lor a Dorset Horn ram was secured recently by the well-known Victorian Dorset breeder, Mr K. G. Luke, cf “Deepliclds,” Romsey. This “Decpfielas’ stud ram, 155/ <B, lambed on July 9, 1948, was sired by Newbold 96/43 and from Thistlecroon, 5/45. Kam 155 has an excellent show record, being third in the 1949 Royal Agricultural Show shorn class as a lamb (in a Held of 30); first shorn lamb class, Bendigo in 1949; first and champion at Kynetoa in 1949, and first champion at Ballarat in 1950. The purchaser was Mr W. T. Pratt, ’of Palmerston North, the well-known North Is 1 and s.ud Dorset breeder, who made th? purchase during a recent visit io Victoria. Dalgety and Company Ltd., handled the transaction.
