SPEED DEFENCE CALL TO THE U.S. SERVICES
WASHINGTON, Dec. 18 (Recd. 6pm)—The Secretary for Defence Mr Marshall) ordered the armed services today to speed up their arms buying to turn the United States into “an arsenal for the defence of democracy.”
The Defence Secretary told the Army, Navy and Air Force to cut red tape and rush, action in defence contracts, spreading them as widely as possible to obtain “urgently needed goods faster."
