SANSON NOTES
SANSON, Last Night, (O.C.).—The Sanson-Ohakea Branch of the R.S.A. held its third annual ladies night in the Sanson Public Hall. The hall, which presented a gala appearance for the occasion, was gaily decorated with flowers and bunting, which together with the table decorations, was comfortably filled by some 200 members, their wives and friends. Throughout the evening, which took the form of a banquet, an excellent programme of entertainment, arranged by the secretary, (Mr. J. Currie) was given. In opening proceedings, the president, (Mr. O. C. Ellerm) welcomed the guests, visitors being present from Shannon, Hunterville. Marton, Foxton and Palmerston North, and the Royal toast was honoured. The main toast of the evening “The Ladies” was proposed by the president, who referred to the help and co-operation he had received from the ladies. Mrs. K. C. Bailey, on behalf of the ladies, replied. Other toasts honoured were the R.S.A. Mr. B. Henderson (Mr. Graham Burgess), “The Visitors," Mr. K. C. Bailey (Mr. M. M. Pearce), "The Entertainers” Mr. J. Currie (Mr. Sweeny). Items during the evening were given by Mr. Gordon and Miss Lois Currie, Mr. P. Anderson, Mr. R. Simpson and party, Mrs. Eagle. Mr. N. Shelton, Miss C. Read and Miss Bradley. PERSONAL Advice has been received by Miss Lois Currie that she has passed her intermediate music examination. Miss Currie gained highest marks in Palmers on North. Today the stone-laying ceremony, which will mark the fulfilment of the plans laid by the jubilee committee of the Methodist Church at Sanson, for a new church, is to take place. The occasion will be of great interest to Methodists in the district, and will be performed by Mr. H. R. Masters, the service being conducted by the President of N.Z. Conference, the Rev. E. W. Hames.
