Truck Driver Fined For Not Having A Warrant Of Fitness

A collision between a truck driven, by Gerard Anthony Holly and another vehicle at Okoia on the afternoon of October 21, last, had its sequel in the Magistrate’s Court, Wanganui, yesterday, when Holly admitted not having a warrant of fitness. He was fined 10s, costs 10s, by Mr. S. S. Preston, S.M. Senior-Sergeant F. Culloty, who prosecuted, said that both vehicles were approaching a bridge from opposite directions. Defendant was on the bridge first and the second vehicle stopped on the other side, but a collision occurred. Defendant had purchased the truck three weeks’ previously and did not have a warrant of fitness.

In reply to the magistrate, defendant said that a warrant of fitness had since been obtained.
