WELLINGTON, Yesterday (PA).— The holder of the New Zealand chess championship, Dr. P. Allerhand, of [Wellington, will not be defending his ‘title at the national congress starting in Christchurch on Boxing Day. The 12 entrants selected to play in the championship are: D. I. Lynch, of Hastings; H. McNabb, of Nelson; A. L. Fletcher, A. E. Turner and I. S. Crawford, all of Auckland; R. O. Scott and A. W. Gyles, both of Wellington; W. E. Moore, of Canterbury; J. F. Laing, R. A. Rasa and F. A. Haight, all of Otago; and H. P. Whitlock, of Wanganui.
