Senator Taft Wants U.S. To Review Her Foreign Commitments

WASHINGTON, Nov. 19.—The United States should not make any further commitments in Europe and the Far East until the facts had been thoroughly examined by the new Congress, said Senator Robert Taft, Republican aspirant for the presidency, today. Senator Talf said he was not opposed to military aid for West Europe and Asia, or the dispatch of more American troops to Germany. However, he considered that the amount of aid its scope and character should first be studied by Congress. He suggested that the Atlantic pact talks should be held up until then. Senator Talf denied that he is an isolationist. He said: “We cannot be isolationists when we are involved in wars, treaties and other international relations.”
