BOROUGH ELECTIONS; THE OFFICIAL COUNT

The official count of votes cast in the Taihape Borough Council election on Saturday was completed on Monday afternoon and reverses the positions of Mr N. Ashenden and Mrs R. Emery on the municipal ladder. Mrs Emery was fourth and Mr Ashenden fifth on the list of successful eandldates. but this order has now been reversed. Mr S. S. Newson still tops the poll, but his majority of 41 on Saturday, over Mr A. M. Gordon, who filled second position on the poll, has been reduced by 11, though both have In creased their totals. Mr Gordon secured 29 nostal and declaration votes and Mr Newson 19. Mr Gordon has increased his majority of one vote over Mr R. J. Wilkinson to nine votes. Mr Ashenden. who was one vote behind Mrs Emery on the preliminary count, is now five votes ahead of Taihane's woman councillor. These are the main features of the recount. HOSPITAL BOARD. The official count gives Mr T. G Kincaid a majority of 126 over his opponent, Mrs Emery, in the Hospital Board election. Mr Kincaid was 118 ahead on the first count. The final figures are: T. C. Kincaid 507 R. E. Emery 381 Informal 5 Majority for Kincaid, 126. The above figures include the Mangaweka vote of 90 for Mr Kincaid and 47 for Mrs Emery. Soldier Charged

A soldier from Waiouru military camp, Noel William James Cameron, aged 25 years, was charged in the Taihape Magistrate’s Court late on Monday afternoon with Indecently pssault. ing a girl aged six years at Waiouru on Sunday, November 19. A large attendance of the public is expected to give the boys a send-off appropriate to the occasion. GENERAL NEWS An exhibition of tap and ballet dancing was given at the Majestic cinema on Saturday by the pupils of Mrs. R. D. Macßae. The juniors appeared on the stage at the matinee in the morning while the senior pupils gave a performance at the 8.30 session in the evening. The large audience appreciated the performance and the pupils were loudly applauded. Each was presented with a bouquet. UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARM.

Ashley James Down, labourer, Utiku, pleaded guilty to being in unlawful possession of an Italian automatic pistol at Taihape on October 14.
