Scholarship Winners. The following award: of Wanganui Collegiate School Scholarships are announced: W. E. Atkinson scholarship, A. H G. Roche. King’s School, and the Wanggnui Collegiate School; a Trustees Day Boys’ Scholarship, AWright. Wanganui East School.

Speed-boat Regatta. Speed-boat owners from Wellington, Paten, Palmerston North and other centres will be taking part in the speed-boat regatta to be held on Poari Like, five nrles south of Wanganui, on Sunday. The regatta is being held under the auspices of the Wanganui Speed-boat Club, and the total proceeds are to be given to the Crippled Children Home appeal in Wanganui.

Transport Licensing, Sitting in Wanganui yesterday for the first time since the re-arrange merits of transport licensing districts, the No. 6 Authority, Mr. T. T. Murray, of New Plymouth, dealt with miscellaneous applications for transfers of goods service licences, amendments to existing authorities and other matters. The circuit of the No. 6 Authority includes Wanganui, Hawera, Stratford and New Plymouth districts. Further sittings will be held in Hawera today.

Police Thank Helpers. Cement Cargo Today. With 120 tons cf cement for Wanganui, the Peal Kasper Shipping Company's m.v. Taupata was to have departed from Tarakohe at 5 p.m. yesterday and is expected to arrive al the Town Wharf on this morning's tide. The cement is urgently needed in Wanganui and district, the shipment being the outcome of urgent representations made to the Ministei of* Works (Mr. Goosman). Given favourable weather for the crossing, the Taupata should reach Wanganui at about 8 a..m. today.
