W.D.F.F. Raetihi
Although November is a busy one among farmers’, there was a fair attendance at the Raetihi branch of Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, Mrs. Malpas presiding. Mrs. Sigley entertained with a talk on her visit to Fiji and other islands. Competition results were: Best bloom, Mrs. Brown 1, Mrs. Bright 2, Mrs. Bernard 3; decorated plate, Mrs. Bell 1, Mrs. Bernard 2, Miss Solly 3; six flowers, Mrs. Brown 1, Mrs. Bell 2, Mrs. Bernard 3.
A pleasant afternoon was brought to a close with afternoon tea served by Orautoha and Middle Road members. The branch now goes into recess until the annual garden party to be held in February on a date to be arranged. Mrs. Sigley again offered the use of her lovely lawns and gardens for the occasion. Mid-Way Heels. The woman determined to be smart at all costs needs no longer suffer in high heels. At a party in London recently, a shoe manufacturer organised a ballot to get the reaction of a group of fashion writers to his newest shoes. The winner was a welted court shoe with a mid-way heel — lower than Cuban, higher than '‘flatties.’’ Sixty or so women whose job is fashion chose this shoe for elegance with comfort. All the runnersup in the contest had mid-way heels, too. An advantage to the wearer is that they look right with practically any sort of an outfit. ,
