CEMENT SHIPMENT PROMISED FOR WANGANUI TOMORROW

Relief for contractors, builders and manufacturers who have been compelled to stand down labour through the shortage of cement will be given by a shipment expected to raach Wanganui tomorrow morning. Advice of the shipment was received last evening by the president of the Wanganui Employers’ Federation, Mr S. J. Sullivan, in a telegram from the Minister of Works, Mr W. S. Goosman, who had been asked for assistance. The telegram stated:— “FURTHER MY TLEGRAM REFERENCE CEMENT WANGANUI PLEASED TO ADVISE SHIPMENT SCHEDULED ARRIVE YOUR PORT WEDNESDAY MORNING.” Due to the shortage cement some employers had been considering giving their employees their annual holi days immediately to allow supplies to be accumulated, stated Mr Sullivan last night. “This timely shipment will keep the workers employed and give considerable relief to all interested parties," he added.
