Victoria Defeats N.S.W. At Tennis
SYDNEY, Nov 12 (Recd 6 pm).— I Victorian tennis players won the Mars ' Buckley inter-State cup from New ! South Wales, by beating New South ! Wales topliners in straight sets in all the singles and then taking two out of the three doubles. ; There are still matches to play, but I Victoria is in an unassailable position. | New South Wales has held the cup since 1927. In the singles the Victorian players, Long, Rose, Sedgman and McGregor, respectively, beat, Gilchrist, Rosewall , Sidwell and Quist. The l only New South Wales victory was when the scratch doubles pair, Quist and Sidwell, defeated the Davis Cup combination, Sedgman and McGregor.
