WANGANUI-TARANAKI NUNNELEY CASKET AND HOWE SHIELD TENNIS TEAMS
Two trials to select teams for Important tennis trophies were held in Wanganui on Saturday. On the Wanganui courts Wanganui and Taranaki women played to enable the selectors to choose the combined Wanganui-Taranaki team to play Wellington in a Nunneley Casket match at Wellington next Friday and Saturday and on the Wanganui East courts Wanganui junior girls contested selection in a Ho\vc Shield team. Following were the selections made: Nunneley Casket Team.
Miss J. Burke (Taranaki), Miss F. Jones (Wanganui), Miss K. O’Sullivan (Taranaki), Mrs. I. Rout (Taranaki). Reserve: Miss D. Bosher (Wanganui). For combined play Miss Burke will partner Miss O’Sullivan and Miss Jones will partner Mrs. Rout. Howe Shield Team. Miss P Nettleton (Victoria), Miss J. Everett (Victoria), Miss B. Watt (Marlon), Miss E. Ferris (St. John’s). Reserve: Miss M. Mako (Taihape). For combined play Misses Everett and Nettleton will be partners and Misses Watt, and Ferris. The Howe Shield match, against Taranaki, is to be played at Wanganui next Saturday.
