Pilotless Turbo-Jet Plane Is Built
MELBOURNE, Nov 9 (Recd 8.15 pm).—A pilotless turbo-jet aircraft for British Commonwealth defence has been designed, developed and tested at the Comonwealth Aircraft Factory at Fisherman’s Bend, Melbourne and the South Australian rocket range. Controlled by radio, itis said to have all the characteristics of a first-line fighter. The project, suggested by Britain two years ago, has been a closely-guarded secret. So far only one aircraft has been produced, but bigger orders are expected and there is a possibility of a plane being built in Britain under Australian licence.
