Sudden Death Of Mr. W. H. Powell, Of Otangiwai Valley
The recent sudden death of Mr William Herbert Powell, at his home at Otangiwai Valley, Matieje, caused regret throughout the Waimarino district. Born a Karioi of a pioneer family 36 years ago, Mr Powell was educated at the Karioi School and Wanganui Technical College. On leaving school he took up farming in Karioi and later took up land in the Otangiwai Valley. An athlete of more than average ability, he took part in all forms of athletic activity. Interested in educational matters, Mr Powell was chairman of the local school committee. In 1941 Mr Powell was married to Miss Barbara Delamar, a daughter ot the Mayor of Ohakunc. He is survived by his wife and three children.
