Powder (Sure-tO-Rise or Acto), 12-0= Beat butter to a cream, add sugar, breadcrumbs, 1%-lb. chopped suet, 12-oz. brown then the eggs one by one (unbeaten); sugar, 1 dessertspoon treacle (or more), 9 eggs, | mix baking powder with flour, and put teaspoon essence of lemon, 2 cups milk, F&I in, then fruit dredged with flour, lastly sultanas, 1-lb. currants, 1-lb. raisins, S-oz. al- JMDfr brandy. Cook 4| hours in moderate monds (blanched). 8-oz. mixed peel, | packet v oven, 350° F. spice, | level teaspoon salt, | nutmeg (grated), 2 tablespoons brandy. Mix well dry ingredients, add fruit previously prepared, treacle, eggs well beaten, lastly milk, essence and brandy. Darken with burnt sugar if desired. Put into scalded and floured pudding cloths or into well greased basins covered with scalded and floured pudding cloths. If divided into two, boil 8 hours; if into four, boil 6 hours. T. J.
