ENGLISH CROQUET TEAM DUE IN WANGANUI NEXT WEEK: EXHIBITION GAMES
The English croquet team is to visit Wanganui next week. It will play exhibition matches on the Wanganui Croquet Club lawns on Wednesday morning. The members of the team are: Messrs. Hamilton-Miller (captain), H. O. Hicks, Ward-Petley and J. Solomon, and Mesdames Kingston and Ozanne. Hicks has been champion of England six times and is on a handicap for si. The English team is to play in tests against New Zealand, the first at Auckland on November 27, the second at Wellington on December 11 and the third at Dunedin on January 3. Five players have been named from whom the New Zealand four will be chosen:
A. G. F. Ross, Oamaru, minus 3i; Ashley Heenan (Wellington), minus two; Claude Bryan (Hutt), minus two, Clem Williams (Hastings), minus one; Miss Margaret Claughton (Hutt), minus two.
