Church Of England View On Gambling Said To Be Dangerous

LONDON, Nov. 6.- “The recent report on gambling by the social and industrial committee of the Anglican Church Assembly was a most dangerous and misleading document," said the Rev. E. Benson Perkins, chairman of the Church’s committee on gambling, which represents all denominations, at Sheffield last night. Mr Perkins added: “Tho statement that gambling is permissible as an amusement will be used to justify gambling far beyond what the commission intends.” Mr Perkins gave evidence before the Royal Commission on Gambling in December. 1949. Ho is a former president of the Methodist Conference.
