Wanganui Rowing Club Retains Vodanovich Cup

Rowing strongly for an end-to-end victory, M. Pauls four retained the Wanganui Rowing Association’s Vodanovich Cup foj; the Wanganui Rowing Club on Sunday morning. Paul’s crew showed great form to defeat the Aramoho Boating Club and Union Boat Club entries by four lengths. Aromoho was second. The race, which is an annual event contested by the respective winners of the three Wanganui clubs’ first trophy races each season, drew a large crowd at the finish of the mile course. The three crews got off the mark well, but Aramoho lost ground through an early “crab.” It was not long before the Wanganui crew began to show its paces and the field rapidly' strung out. Aramoho recovered from its initial setback to move into second place about Guyton Street, nut there was no catching Wanganui. At the line there was clear water separating the racers. The crews were:— Wanganui: M. Paul (str.), J. Nolan, B. Lockett, T. Cronin and G. Paul (cox). Aramoho: W. James (str.), J. Holterman, S. Carroll, H. Smith. Union: G. Mill (str.), A. Tung, V. Cathro L. Harris.
