WILL AUSTRALIA HAVE AN ELECTION BEFORE CHRISTMAS?
CANBERRA, Nov. 6 (Recd. Bpm). Developments in the next 48 hours will determine whether a general election will be held before Christ-
Tomorrow Cabinet is expected to decide on the advice to be given the Governor-General. The Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) would like an immediate election for a decisive showdown on Labour obstruction in the Senate but the practical obstacles appear formidable. There is only sufficient. time to arrange an election before Christmas if Mr. McKell agrees this week to dissolve Parliament. Election rolls have not been reprinted since last. December and are out of date. Barely six weeks is available before Christmas to wind up the Parliamentary business and fight the election campaign.
