United Nations Forces Endeavour To Smother Attacks
TOKIO, Nov. 6 (Recd 12.25 am).— . United Nations troops covering the north-west Korea defence line, hurriedly reinforced from the south, smothered a new onslaught by Communists, including Chinese, today and established firm positions. An American spokesman in Tokio. however, said “alien’ reinforcements for the Communists are still crossing the Yalu River from Manchuria "in fair strength." General MacArthur’s spokesman would not go beyond MacArthurs personal communique of last night, that "new alien forces were in the war,”

A spokesman said a continuous attack i against the United Nations lines on ' the Chongchon River had been mostlj by rebuilt North Korean forces. l North Koreans had reconstituted up to • 10 divisions, with several independent : brigades. Most of this strength had been identified in north-west Korea.
