Guy Fawkes Day Left Its Mark On Five Auckland Boys
AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA).— Five boys were admitted to the Auckland Hospital on Saturday suffering from burns caused by exploding fireworks.
Burns to the face and eyes were suffered by David William Prowse, aged 15, a boarder at King’s College. Similar burns were suffered by Warren Edward Evans, aged 15, of Ellers-lie-Panmure Main Highway. When a home-made bomb exploded burns to the face and eyes were suffered by Gordon Charleston, aged 16, and Brian Watson, aged 16, both of Waiohua Road, One Tree Hill. Charleston’s conditon is fairly serious. Bums to the left hand were suffered by lan Melvyn Galloway, aged 8, of Wall Road, Penrose. He picked up what was thought to be a "dud” cracker.
