Wanted Man Traps Himself In Fowl Pen
MASTERTON, Nov. 1 (P.A.).— After an exciting chase through gar- ' dens and over fences, a man wanted by the police effectively trapped himself at 1 o’clock this morning in Featherston. With a constable and a civilian hot in pursuit, the man leaped over a 6ft. wide netting fence, and in the dark did not. know that he had landed in a securely built fowl pen sft. by sft. The man will be charged with having unlawfully converted a bus valued at £3OOO, the property of the Blue Bus Service,’Masterton. at midnight. A resident living near where the bus was garaged in Featherston, I heard a greating of gears. He notified the owner, Mr. A. J. Snelgrove, and the police. Cons|abl° Stu rgess eventually saw the bus, with no headlights, going up a back st rec-. The man driving <he bus ran when he was accosted, only to land in the fowl pen.
